Nourish the Kidneys to Replenish Essence, Enrich Blood to Strengthen Tendons: Use Astragalus This Way to Become a Strong Man
Many men often complain about having a sore waist and weak knees, lacking energy, and "failing at the critical moment." Actually, this is mostly related to insufficient kidney essence and deficiency of qi and blood. Traditional Chinese medicine emphasizes that "the kidney is the foundation of innate constitution." Kidney essence is like the body's "stored grain," while qi and blood are the "transport fleet" for nutrients; both are indispensable. Today, I will teach you a simple and practical formula using Astragalus combined with two other herbs to help the body replenish its vitality.
The herb Astragalus is beloved by experienced TCM doctors. It has a mild nature and specifically tonifies spleen qi and lung qi. When spleen qi is sufficient, digestion and absorption improve; when lung qi is sufficient, breathing becomes more powerful. It's like installing a "pressure booster" for the body's qi and blood circulation, ensuring energy is delivered to all parts of the body. However, just tonifying qi is not enough; we also need to add some supplies to the "storage warehouse"—that’s when Wolfberry (Goji) and Eucommia Bark come to the rescue.
Goji berries are a master at gentle tonification, with a sweet taste and neutral nature—neither drying nor cold. They can both replenish kidney essence and nourish liver blood. Traditional Chinese Medicine says "the liver and kidneys share a common source," where kidney essence and liver blood are like close brothers, mutually nourishing each other. Goji berries replenish the "stocks" of both, ensuring that the ancestral sinew (male genitalia) receives ample nourishment—just like thoroughly watering parched land, naturally restoring vitality.
Eucommia bark is a medicinal herb that specifically targets the lower back, knees, sinews, and bones. It not only tonifies the liver and kidneys but also strengthens the sinews and bones. It is especially adept at "locking" kidney essence within the body to prevent loss. Many men experience soreness and weakness in the lower back and knees, or lack strength when walking, which are actually manifestations of insufficient kidney essence and undernourished sinews and bones. Eucommia acts like adding a "protective shield" to the sinews and bones, making the lower back more solid and the legs and feet more powerful.
When these three herbs are combined, they form a "tonification support team": Astragalus root is responsible for promoting the circulation of qi and blood, Goji berries are responsible for replenishing kidney essence and liver blood, and Eucommia bark is responsible for strengthening the sinews, bones, lower back, and knees. With sufficient qi and blood, full kidney essence, and strong sinews and bones, the body naturally becomes "hard and robust."
The specific usage is quite simple: take 10 grams of Astragalus root, 15 grams of Goji berries, and 10 grams of Eucommia bark, steep them in boiling water to drink as tea, or boil them in water to make a decoction. Persist in drinking it for a period of time, and you will find yourself with more abundant energy, stronger lower back and knees, and even improved sleep quality.
However, it’s important to remind everyone that Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasizes individualized treatment. If you are currently experiencing signs of internal heat (such as dry mouth and constipation), or if you have a cold or fever, it’s best not to drink it for the time being. Additionally, tonic herbs should be taken gradually—don’t expect to “get fat on one bite.” Consistency in regulation is key.
