There is no such thing as a "Zongjin" (ancestral tendon) that cannot rise; it is simply a lack of nourishment from Qi and blood.
The Yang Qi in our body is just like the sun; if Yang Qi is insufficient, deficiency-cold will "set up camp" inside the body. Traditional Chinese Medicine teaches that cold pathogens have a specific characteristic: they cause Qi and blood to stagnate, much like water freezing into ice in winter. These cold pathogens are particularly prone to accumulating in the Lower Jiao (lower burner), causing blockages.
Now let's talk about the Zongjin, which is also located in the Lower Jiao. For the Zongjin to function normally, it relies on the nourishment of Qi and blood. However, if the Lower Jiao is blocked and Qi and blood cannot pass through, the Zongjin becomes listless and weak, like someone who hasn't had enough to eat. When the critical moment comes, it simply has no way to stand tall.
At this point, many people think about tonifying Yang, but they overlook the issue of internal blockages. This is like a riverbed that is already clogged; if you keep pouring water in without clearing the channel, can you solve the problem? Not at all—in fact, it will only make things worse. Therefore, when regulating the body, one must remain clear-headed and avoid blind supplementation.
Today, I want to introduce two remarkable Chinese herbs: Xixin (Asarum) and Wubeizi (Galla Chinensis). Xixin is pungent and warm in nature; it possesses strong dispersing and penetrating abilities and can dispel wind and cold. As mentioned earlier, when the "ancestral tendon" (Zongjin) is affected by cold, it contracts, becoming limp and weak. In this situation, Xixin exerts its unique effect by driving away the cold evil and restoring vitality to the Zongjin.
Now let’s talk about Wubeizi. It has a sour and astringent taste and possesses astringent properties. Through its sourness, it can stabilize the "gate of essence" and reduce sensitivity. It is like putting a lock on the gate to prevent premature "surrender." Furthermore, Wubeizi can lock in body fluids, preventing them from being lost unnecessarily. Additionally, it has the effect of calming the heart. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the heart and kidneys must communicate; when the heart-mind is settled, kidney function will strengthen accordingly. Therefore, for male health issues caused by blockages of the essence gate, the combination of Xixin and Wubeizi is commonly used.
If you are experiencing these types of physical issues, please do not self-medicate. You must consult a professional doctor for a proper evaluation to ensure the treatment fits the specific symptoms.
