In Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are as many kidney-tonifying formulas as there are stars in the sky, but there is one particular formula that truly stands out. It consists of only seven herbs, yet it can replenish Yin, Yang, Essence, and Blood all at once.

As we all know, "Essence" (Jing) is something we are born with, and it is as precious as life itself. In daily life, when a normal amount of Kidney Essence is consumed, the Qi and Blood transformed by the Spleen and Stomach can replenish it. However, if the Essence is severely damaged and the Spleen and Stomach's production cannot keep up with the rate of consumption, the problem of Essence deficiency arises. Symptoms such as lethargy, hair loss, memory decline, and weakness in the lower back and knees are all manifestations of Essence deficiency. When even the most basic life activities cannot be adequately supplied, one can hardly expect to have any stamina in their intimate life.

Today, I would like to share a formula that can simultaneously replenish kidney essence, kidney yin, and kidney yang, called Qibao Meiran Dan. This formula consists of seven medicinal herbs: Polygonum multiflorum (He Shou Wu), Poria cocos (Fu Ling), Achyranthes bidentata (Niu Xi), Angelica sinensis (Dang Gui), Lycium barbarum (Gou Qi Zi), Cuscuta chinensis (Tu Si Zi), and Psoralea corylifolia (Bu Gu Zhi).

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it is said that the liver and kidney share the same source, and essence and blood share the same source. Therefore, the formula uses He Shou Wu to nourish the liver and kidneys while also astringing essence and consolidating qi. Gou Qi Zi can supplement the essence and qi of both the liver and kidneys. Dang Gui is specifically used to nourish liver blood. Tu Si Zi and Niu Xi can dispel wind and eliminate dampness while strengthening the liver, kidneys, tendons, and bones, as well as tonifying the kidneys and benefiting essence. Bu Gu Zhi can supplement the kidneys and assist yang, providing a significant improvement for nocturnal emission and spermatorrhea. Fu Ling can strengthen the spleen, calm the heart, and drain dampness to clear turbidity.

When these seven herbs are used together, they can tonify the liver and kidneys, astringe essence, and consolidate the foundation, allowing the body's essence, qi, and blood to gradually recover. If you suffer from essence deficiency, you might want to try this formula; it may bring you a pleasant surprise. However, medication must follow a doctor's advice—do not take it blindly on your own.

Traditional Chinese Medicine emphasizes syndrome differentiation and treatment—different symptoms require different formulas to cure the illness. If you have similar conditions, the first step is to look at the tongue coating. Send over a photo of your tongue and your symptoms, and I will provide a free consultation to determine the general direction for your recovery.
