Daily Self-Indulgence and Excessive Depletion of Kidney Essence: Two Herbs to Replenish the Deficit
Many male friends often have excessive urges and struggle with self-control at critical moments, resorting to daily self-indulgence. As a result, their kidney essence is excessively depleted, leading to symptoms such as kidney essence deficiency, soreness and weakness in the lower back and knees, dizziness, tinnitus, mental fatigue, palpitations, insomnia, night sweats, and an increase in gray hair. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, there are two herbs that can help address this state of kidney essence deficiency.
The first is Suo Yang (Cynomorium). It enters the Liver and Kidney meridians and helps tonify kidney yang, benefit essence and blood, consolidate essence through heart yang, and strengthen yin while nourishing the marrow. It is helpful for conditions such as soreness and weakness of the waist and knees, kidney deficiency, and impotence.
The second is Mulberry (Sang Shen). It enters the Heart, Liver, and Kidney meridians and is capable of nourishing Yin, enriching the blood, and promoting the production of body fluids. It is helpful for symptoms such as dizziness, lower back soreness, tinnitus, and premature graying of hair caused by Liver and Kidney deficiency or blood and essence depletion.
Those two herbs—one supplementing Yang and the other nourishing Yin—are very helpful for tonifying the Kidneys and securing the essence, while also helping to balance the Yin and Yang within the body.
