Recently, many people have come to ask me: "Why does taking Wuzi Yanzong Wan have little effect, and I often experience excessive internal heat?" Actually, it's just like cooking—having good ingredients alone isn't enough; proper pairing is key. Today, I'll share with you two commonly used clinical combination tips. Use them well, and you can double the medicinal effectiveness!

First, let's talk about the Chinese patent medicine Wuzi Yanzong Wan. The five medicinal materials in this formula are all seed-based. They may look unassuming, but each one is a master at nourishing the kidneys. Cuscuta seed (Tusizi) can nourish both kidney yin deficiency and kidney yang deficiency. Goji berry (Gouqizi) specializes in nourishing the liver and kidneys. Raspberry (Fupenzi) and Schisandra fruit (Wuweizi) act as gatekeepers, securely locking in the supplemented kidney essence. Plantain seed (Cheqianzi) is like a diligent cleaner, clearing out the waste from the kidneys so that the tonic can work more effectively. When these five medicinal materials are combined, they are particularly effective for issues like soreness and weakness in the lower back and knees, dizziness, tinnitus, low spirits, seminal emission, and premature ejaculation caused by insufficient kidney essence.

But nowadays, people's physical conditions aren't that simple. It's rare for someone to have pure kidney essence deficiency, and many who try kidney tonification see no results because they haven't addressed the underlying blockages in the body. For example, some people not only have insufficient kidney essence but also weak spleen and stomach function. Besides symptoms of kidney essence deficiency, they often experience abdominal bloating and pain, poor appetite, indigestion, and loose stools.

Traditional Chinese Medicine holds that the spleen and stomach are the foundation of postnatal health. If their function is poor, the medication taken can't be properly absorbed, making kidney tonification efforts futile. In such cases, we must first regulate the spleen and stomach. For those with spleen-stomach deficiency, you can try Sijunzi Tang to enhance digestive function; if there's heavy dampness in the body, Xiangsha Liujunzi Tang is suitable, as it both strengthens the spleen and dispels dampness. Once spleen and stomach function improves, taking Wuzi Yanzong Wan for kidney tonification will be more effective.

Other friends, besides kidney essence deficiency, also have stagnant liver qi, leading to emotional distress, frequent irritability, flank distension and pain, and bloating with gas moving around in the abdomen. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the liver governs free flow and is responsible for regulating the movement of qi throughout the body. If liver qi is blocked, tonifying herbs can't enter properly and may even cause excessive internal heat.

In this case, we must first soothe the liver and regulate qi. For mild symptoms, Chaihu Shugan San can be used; for those with persistent low mood, susceptibility to depression, and spleen-stomach issues, Xiaoyao San is well-suited; if accompanied by dry mouth, bitter taste, restlessness, and insomnia, Jiawei Xiaoyao San is more effective. Once liver qi is unblocked, then using Wuzi Yanzong Wan to tonify kidney essence can truly resolve the problem.

Physical conditioning is not something that can be accomplished overnight; it must be taken slowly. The content of this article is intended for knowledge purposes only. If you are experiencing health issues, it is recommended to seek guidance from a professional physician for medication use. Do not blindly self-medicate to avoid delaying your condition!
