The Root of Your Insomnia Might Be in Your Liver! Using Xiaoyao Wan This Way Will Let You Sleep Soundly Until You Wake Naturally
Do you suffer from insomnia? Do you toss and turn at night, struggling to fall asleep, or experience continuous dreams and easily wake up startled in the middle of the night? In fact, from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the "culprit" behind insomnia is often the liver. Today, I’d like to share a few combinations of Xiaoyao Wan to help you sleep peacefully every night, waking naturally after a sound sleep.
I. Xiaoyao Wan + Yangxin Anshen Wan
If you toss and turn in bed at night, unable to fall asleep no matter how you position yourself, feeling restless and irritated, yet sleep just won’t come—along with daytime fatigue, occasional palpitations, and heart flutters—this may be a manifestation of a restless mind and inner agitation. In such cases, this combination can nourish the heart and calm the spirit, potentially bringing a sense of tranquility, helping you drift off easily and enjoy a restful night’s sleep.
II. Xiaoyao Wan + Xiegan Anshen Wan
Do you often wake up around 2 or 3 AM and find it difficult to fall back asleep? Do you also experience symptoms like dry eyes, a dry or bitter taste in the mouth, and irritability? Does insomnia worsen when you’re angry or upset? When examining the tongue, if the tongue body appears red, especially along the sides, this may indicate liver qi stagnation with fire, where pathogenic fire disturbs the mind. In this situation, this combination may be considered to clear liver fire and calm the spirit.
III. Xiaoyao Wan + Anshen Dingzhi Wan
Do you often dream after falling asleep, with fragmented and intermittent dreams? Additionally, do you experience restlessness, overthinking, heart palpitations, anxiety, thirst, fear, and even startle at the slightest sound? This may indicate issues with the liver and gallbladder. In such cases, this combination can help calm your mind and reduce the disturbance of dreams.
