Zhou Kezhao

Treatment Methods

Select the Feishu (BL13) acupoint. Use a lit moxa stick to warm the Feishu acupoint, moving it slowly to avoid overheating the skin and causing blisters. Continue until the patient feels a local warm sensation, approximately 30 minutes.

Case Presentation

Patient Tan XX, female, 38 years old, medical worker. For the past 5 years, regardless of the season, the patient often experiences mild aversion to cold in the back, excessive sweating, nasal itching, followed by continuous sneezing, nasal congestion with runny nose, tearing, headache, floating and weak pulse, thin white and moist tongue coating.

Formerly diagnosed with allergic rhinitis by the ENT department and ineffective after various treatments, then used moxibustion with moxa sticks at Feishu (BL13) acupoint, twice a day, and significant improvement occurred after 4 consecutive sessions. Later, another 4 consecutive sessions were administered, and all symptoms were cured. Follow-up for more than 3 years showed no recurrence.

Experience

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the cause of disease lies in internal factors, while external factors are the conditions for change. The "Huangdi Neijing" states: "Where pathogens gather, the qi must be deficient." Therefore, people with lung qi deficiency are prone to external infections, which is frequently seen in clinical practice.

Patients with lung qi deficiency often feel cold in the back (the area of Feishu), so the root lies in the lungs, while the manifestation is in the nose. Using moxibustion with moxa sticks to gently warm the Feishu acupoint has the effect of supporting the body's vital energy and eliminating pathogens, which can yield certain results in enhancing lung function.
