[Medicinal Composition] Kochiae Fructus 15g, Dianthi Herba, Schizonepetae Herba, Perillae Folium, Mori Cortex, Plantaginis Semen 10g each, Cicadae Periostracum 3g.

Modifications: For more severe conditions, increase Kochiae Fructus to 18g; for heavier hematuria, increase the dosage of Dianthi Herba; for heavier proteinuria, increase the dosage of Cicadae Periostracum and Perillae Folium; for more leukocytes, increase the dosage of Phellodendri Cortex and add Forsythiae Fructus; for more casts in urine, add Pyrrosiae Folium.

【Efficacy and Indications】Promotes sweating and diuresis, clears heat and dispels dampness. Indicated for acute nephritis.

【Case Verification】Case 1: Xu, female, 37 years old, hospital staff, initial consultation on December 9, 1998. The patient had experienced edema and low back pain for half a month after uterine curettage. Urinalysis: red blood cells (+++). Tongue dark red without coating, pulse deep and thready. Prescribed Compound Kochiae Fructus Decoction with 6g of Panax notoginseng powder (taken dissolved), 5 doses. Follow-up on December 19, reported mild diarrhea during medication, which stopped after discontinuing the medicine, and the edema subsequently subsided. Repeat urinalysis was normal.

Case 2: Duan, female, 5 years old, initial consultation on October 31, 1996. The child had facial edema for 5 days due to furuncle infection, accompanied by scanty urine.
