Alias: Stalactite, Drip Milk Stone, Lush Stone, Yellow Stone Sand, Lubu.
English Name: Stalactitum
Medicinal Part: Ore of Stalactitum, a calcite of the calcite group of carbonate minerals.
Distribution: Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Shaanxi, Gansu and Shanxi. Often born in mountain rock caves.
Harvesting and Processing: It can be harvested throughout the year, knocked down from the rock caves, removing miscellaneous stones, washed and dried in the sun.
Herbal properties: stalactitic aggregate, slightly conical or cylindrical. The surface is white, grayish-white or brownish-yellow, rough, uneven, with tumor-like protrusions, earthy gray, grayish-white or brownish-yellow. Weight, hard, easy to smash, the section is relatively flat, white to light gray-white, to the light observation with shining star-shaped bright, near the center often has a round hole, round solenoid with most of the light orange-yellow concentric ring around the layer. Sexual flavor attributed to the meridian: warm in nature, sweet in taste. Attributed to the lung, kidney and stomach meridians.
Effects: Warming the lungs, assisting yang, calming asthma, suppressing acidity, and promoting lactation. It is a yang tonic classified under the category of deficiency tonics.
Clinical application: 3~9 grams, decoction. It is used to treat cold phlegm and coughing, cold asthma in yang deficiency, lumbago and cold pain, stomachache and acidity, and lactation after childbirth.
Pharmacological research: stalactites in the stomach can neutralize excessive gastric acid, to the intestinal tract after absorption can increase calcium ions in the blood, the sympathetic nerve has an excitatory effect.
Chemical composition: stalactites mainly contain calcium carbonate. It also contains iron, copper, potassium, zinc, manganese and other trace elements.
